Why Does Dandadan Work So Well?

At first, Dandadan feels like complete chaos.

Aliens, ghosts, curses, romance, weird humor, and fights somehow exist in the same story. On paper, it sounds like something that should not work.

But somehow, it does.

I think the reason is simple: Dandadan never takes its absurdity too seriously, but it still takes its characters seriously.

Behind all the strange creatures and ridiculous situations, Momo and Okarun still feel surprisingly human. They get embarrassed, scared, jealous, insecure, and slowly grow closer to each other.

That emotional connection gives the chaos a purpose.

The anime also rarely gives us time to get bored. One moment can be funny, the next can become an intense fight, and suddenly it turns into something emotional.

Maybe that is why Dandadan is so easy to recommend.

You don't really need to understand what kind of anime it is.

Sometimes, being weird, fun, and full of heart is already enough.
